As you are all aware, Forest Park Leisure Centre did not reopen in July and has since gone into receivership. It is very disappointing and has no doubt been very stressful for the dedicated pool and gym staff that we’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last nineteen years.
In terms of what this means for us as a swim club, we have two news updates.
Firstly, we have been in touch with Wexford County Council who are open to working with us to get our swimmers back in the water. We will keep you updated on any progress.
Secondly, and more urgently, we are actively looking at other pools to maintain our winter training. We hope to secure slots over the coming weeks with a view to holding our annual registration on Friday 28 August, between 6-8 pm. We will send out more information in advance but keep the date in the diary.
2020 and the pandemic has presented us with many challenges particularly in terms of schooling and sport which we have endeavored to mitigate with the sessions in Bunclody outdoor pool over the summer. While the failure of Forest Park to reopen post lockdown may seem bleak, it does not mean the end of Courtown Swimming Club. Please be assured that your committee and parent volunteers are working towards a permanent solution.
Stay safe and well
Yours
Courtown Swim Club Committee
